I’d love to be the recipient of some expert advice.
My 7 year old son has been asking me to help him start a business. I told him he should do it doing something he loves. His big passion is star wars and legos, so we thought an idea might be to make a lego blog site, where he reviews lego sets, and shows off his lego creations.
Of course, we still need to figure out how to turn this into a business. We joined the Amazon affiliate program, where he can make up his own lego store, and get 4% of the sales. We also put adsense on the site.
If you have any business experts that could help us come up with another way to monetize a blog about legos, I’d love to hear.
His site is http://www.LegoAdventures.com
Thanks,
His mom

Hi Lego Mum,
Its really great to hear that your kid would like to start his own business. I’ve been to his blog and see that both you and Lego Kid are doing fine. Just some suggestions to Lego Kid. Probably you can include your own orginal creations using those lego blocks and teach others that such new creation can be done. Maybe you can source for similar blogs posting on toys etc, link up with them. publish more ideas about toys and get your own “children fan club” to your blog. One more thing is that it is mostly adults(mothers) that is more accessible to internet and I think that it would be great to tap on websites that may attract mums. Marketing your blog may be your next move in short. heres my two cents worth. 🙂 anyway, I believe that the learning process is more important esp when it bonds you and your child together.

I agree totally. Your child’s a genius! He has got such a passion to start his own business, it puts adult entrepreneurs to shame. Any of you readers out there who have more ideas for our budding child entrepreneur?

It is always useful to get advice from those who have succeeded in business. But I think we will be missing a lot when we don’t get advice from those who have failed in business. Failure is the source of most of the learning. Avoiding pitfalls are as important as learning the good practices from those who have succeeded.
I would like to hear from those who started business and failed, particularly those re-started an succeeded. Successful are not only those who do not fall down in the race but also those who get up and run again.
